Bloggers Uncensored: with Amy Writes Life
Welcome to this weeks Bloggers Uncensored! This is my latest and favourite blog series that I've created. This series is an opportunity to read you favourite bloggers' honest and uncensored opinions on real life topics. This weeks blogger is Amy Writes Life.
Tell us a little about yourself.
I am a Mum of 2 little ones and work with young children too. I write my blog and have a YouTube channel too, so I'm always busy haha.
Why do you write?
I write to share my experiences with others and get things off my mind. It's also a great place to keep memories that we can look back on in the future.
Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging as a way to express myself and share my thoughts on various things. My blog has now developed into a place where I can share parenting advice and just write about everyday things.
What do you love about the blogging world/community?
I love how supportive people can be. I've found a lovely group of bloggers to chat too and we don't only talk about blogging. It's a nice little community.
What do you hate about the blogging world/community?
A bit of a contradiction to my answer above but there can be a bit of hate in the community. I have found that some bigger bloggers get a bit of hate for certain things like ADs. To me though, this is just them doing their job.
In your opinion, who are the most underrated bloggers?
I think everyone can be underrated at times. There are a lot of smaller bloggers out there that don't get the recognition they deserve. I wouldn't want to name anyone in case I forget people I love.
What are some hard truths you have learnt about life?
Not every one will like you! I have always been worried about what people thought about me and tried to impress them. Sometimes I have even changed something about myself to suit them and that's not healthy. I'm making it my mission to change this about myself and not care what people think.
What does freedom mean to you?
To me it means being able to be you. Do what you love and what you want. Say what you feel (in most cases).
What are your thoughts on mental health and how it's portrayed in today's society?
Mental health is starting to get the attention it needs. As an anxiety sufferer, more awareness needs to be made to invisible illnesses. I feel like we are getting somewhere though. It just needs more people to talk about it without being told they are seeking attention or making it up.
What are your thoughts on feminism and how it's portrayed in today's society?
Feminism is about wanting equal rights for everyone. I am a feminist and totally believe in equal rights for everyone. I think a lot of people believe feminism is just about women hating men, which is so not true! I know quite a few men who are feminists as well, so it is not about that. It's about equal rights!
What are your thoughts on 'Love is Love' and how it's portrayed in today's society?
You can't help who you fall in love with! Being in love is something so special and you shouldn't be put down or abused for that. This is another thing that is definitely getting more attention and so it should! Love is definitely love no matter who you are. Be yourself!
What advice would you give to someone fighting a mental illness?
Talk to someone. I know that can be easier said than done sometimes, but definitely do it. Even if it's a close friend, family member or someone you've met on the internet. Going to the doctors would be the best bet though as they can recommend other things that may help.
What advice would you give to someone who is being bullied or harassed?
Again, talk to someone! No one should go through that alone. Get your feelings out there, even if you write them down to give to someone if it's hard to say out loud.
If you could rid the world of one thing, what would it be?
I honestly don't know. There is so much negative stuff out there I would love to get rid of it all.
What else do you feel strongly about?
I'm not sure really...maybe teaching children about all of this. Teaching them right and wrong. Showing them that being themselves is the best way to be.
Let's end this with some fun 'This or That' questions:
Love or money?
Work hard or play hard?
Bit of both I think. Have a good balance.
Cups in the cupboard: right side up or upside down?
Right side up.
Chocolate or sex?
Chocolate all the way haha.
Plan everything or wing it?
Again, both. I love planning but being spontaneous is good too.
Happiness or money?
Happiness. Money can only get you so far.
. . .
