Bloggers Uncensored: with Blushess

Welcome to this weeks Bloggers Uncensored! This is my latest and favourite blog series that I've created. This series is an opportunity for you to hear your favourite bloggers' honest and uncensored thoughts about real life topics. This weeks blogger is Blushess.

Tell us a little about yourself.

Hi! My name is Miranda Dorsey and I am a university student from Kansas. I am currently majoring in Journalism, and my goal is to be a professional writer. I write for my personal blog, Blushess, and I have just joined the Her Campus KU team as a writer.

Why do you write?

I just plain love it. I wish I had a better answer, but that's it, really. I'm simply a woman in love, to say it in the cheesiest way possible.

Why did you start blogging?

Like I said above, I love writing, so blogging was really just the next step for me. I wanted to be able to self-publish and be my own editor.

What do you love about the blogging world/community?

I love how supportive everyone is of each other. We all repost each other's blog posts and are always down for a collab.

What do you hate about the blogging world/community?

Sometimes I wish it was less fake. I personally don't really buy into the "Boss Girl" mentality, that the ultimate goal is to make money off of your blog. It comes off as artificial and icky to me. I feel as if some people blog for the wrong reasons.

In your opinion, who are the most underrated bloggers?

I have to shout out my girl Hannah at Spiced Orange. She's absolutely hilarious and gives amazing reviews. If you're into make up, you'll love her blog.

What are some hard truths you have learnt about life?

Even though you try your best at something, that doesn't always mean you will be successful. Especially not right away.

What does freedom mean to you?

Great question! To me, freedom is having the ability to live as your most authentic self.

What are your thoughts on mental health and how it's portrayed in today's society?

I wish people were more open and honest about their mental health. As someone with a few mental issues of my own, I know how isolating and alone it can feel. I never want another person to feel that way.

What are your thoughts on feminism and how it's portrayed in today's society?

I consider myself a feminist and I am all in on female empowerment. I feel like feminism is often portrayed in a negative light, and I wish that would change.

What are your thoughts on 'Love is Love' and how it's portrayed in today's society?

As a lesbian myself, I am obviously an advocate for everyone to be equal. Similar to feminism, I wish more people would understand the importance of equality.

What advice would you give to someone who is fighting a mental illness?

Stay strong and seek help if you can. It might seem like no one understands you, but I promise that you are not alone.

What advice would you give to someone who is being bullied or harassed?

I know things are really hard right now, but I promise that they will get better. Please seek help.

If you could rid the world of one thing, what would it be?

Let's end this with some fun 'This or That' questions:

Love or money?

Work hard or play hard?

Work hard.

Cups in the cupboard: right side up or upside down?

Ooh, good one. Right side up. That way you don't get your cabinet germs all over the rim.

Plan everything or wing it?

Plan. Everything.

Happiness or money?
