Bloggers Uncensored: with Books Over Humans

Welcome to this weeks Bloggers Uncensored! This is my latest and favourite blog series that I have created. This series is an opportunity for you to read your favourite bloggers' honest and uncensored thoughts about real life topics. This weeks blogger is Celine from Booksoverhumans.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I'm Celine, a 23 year old blogger from Belgium. I used to focus my blog on books only but I recently decided to blog about everything and anything (it's so much more fun!). I'm disabled (I've been diagnosed with RA and CIDP) and I also have schizoaffective disorder, I've got no shame to admit that. My boyfriend is British so I often go to England. Cast and alpacas have a very special place in my heart.

Why do you write?

I write because it's someone I like to do, I'm not really worried about how many people follow me or how many people actually read what I write. It's just something I enjoy to do.

Why did you start blogging?

Like I mentioned before, my blog used to be about books only so it was mostly reviews and such. I wanted to connect with authors and discover new books, but I also wanted other people to discover new books by posting those reviews. Now I just want people to relate to them.

What do you love about the blogging world/community?

I love how people have their different opinions and aren't afraid to post them. The fact that most people are also supportive towards each other is great too.

What do you hate about the blogging world/community?

I hate it when some bloggers attack other bloggers. Or when it's all about the amount of followers/likes/comments someone has.

In your opinion, who are the most underrated bloggers?

I don't really follow many blogs (I'm working on that) but I know a couple...

- The World In My Words

- lausbooks

What are some hard truths you have learnt about life?

People leave all the time, no matter how long you've known them. Also that being disabled is still seen as a negative thing.

What does freedom mean to you?

Being able to say my opinion no matter what and being independent. Being able to go wherever you want, whenever you want.

What are your thoughts on mental health and how it's portrayed in today's society?

I'm diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, but I try to keep it quiet in real life as much as I can as people still see people with schizophrenia as 'murderers' which we're absolutely not. I wish mental health would be seen like physical problems, that there wouldn't be a shame about it and that it would be accepted no matter what.

What are your thoughts on feminism and how it's portrayed in today's society?

Feminism is great and it's something that's very important. I think it's portrayed quite well nowadays but it could always be better.

What are your thoughts on 'Love is Love' and how it's portrayed in today's society?

I accept everyone and everything so I really don't mind at all. Love is indeed love no matter what and I that's beautiful. It's portrayed in today's society a lot better than how it was a couple years ago but there's still so much room for improvement. No should be afraid to kiss or hold hands in public, so I'm hoping that day will soon come.

What advice would you give to someone who is fighting a mental illness?

It's hard, and it'll always be hard. But getting help is so so important even if you think you cannot be helped. There's always hope to get better and suicide isn't a solution whatsoever. I did try to kill myself several times and I'm so glad I'm still alive now.

What advice would you give to someone who is being bullied or harassed?

You're so much better than any of them. Please do not keep it to yourself but talk to someone you trust about it.

If you could rid the world of one thing, what would it be?

Phone calls, absolutely hate them.

What else do you feel strongly about?

I think education should be available for everyone in the world. Peace as well, I don't see the point of war and killing innocent people.

Let's end this with some fun 'This or That' questions:

Love or money?

Work hard or play hard?

Work hard.

Cups in the cupboard: right side up or upside down?

Upside down.

Chocolate or sex?

Sex. (I just really hate chocolate)

Plan everything or wing it?

Plan everything.

Happiness or money?
