Bloggers Uncensored: with Bronagh Loves

Welcome to this weeks Bloggers Uncensored! This is my longest running blog series, and definitely my favourite. This series is a perfect opportunity to read your favourite bloggers' honest and uncensored opinions on real life topics, and to discover new bloggers that you can start following! This weeks blogger is Bronagh Loves.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I'm Bronagh and I blog at Bronagh Loves. I'm 23 and I live on the North Coast of Ireland. I have a dog called Skylar & spend a lot of my free time writing.

Why do you write?

I write to escape. I write a lot either in the forms of my novel (which I'll finish someday) or on my blog. It makes me happy and gives me something to concentrate on.

Why did you start blogging?

I honestly started because I was bored! I wanted something to fill my spare time. Now I blog to share my interests and my stories.

What do you love about the blogging world/community?

I love the community for how welcoming it is. I've made so many friends through it. Plus the mental health community is amazing.

What do you hate about the blogging world/community?

I hate it when there's drama. I try and avoid all drama now.

In your opinion, who are the most underrated bloggers?

Mo at Treat Yo Brain. I love her! Also Sarah at Things Sarah Loves. She's amazing and her story is inspiring!

What are some hard truths you have learnt about life?

Not everything is good. Not all happiness is true. Sometimes the worst things can happen and you won't see the silver lining.

What does freedom mean to you?

Being able to be myself and show my true self, always.

What are your thoughts on mental health and how it's portrayed in today's society?

Outside of the community, there is such a huge stigma. But then you find the mental health community, who are all amazing. All breaking down stigma and working to normalise all conditions. Outside of the community, there's work to be done on normalising, but you can see the small changes.

What are your thoughts on feminism and how it's portrayed in today's society?

I'll admit, I used to think Feminists were men hating crazy people. Why? That's how they were portrayed. Now I am one because I've seen the truth behind the cause. Equal rights, equal lives, equality and fairness in all laws.

What are your thoughts on 'Love is Love' and how it's portrayed in today's society?

I believe in this so much! I was raised Catholic and almost had it drilled into me what way it "should be" but leaving those teachings showed me everyone deserves to love and to be loved. I even celebrated when Ireland passed same-sex marriage! Now I can't wait for N.Ireland to as well.

What advice would you give to someone who is fighting a mental illness?

In the words of my brilliant therapist - mental health is like a jigsaw puzzle. Some of the pieces may be missing now, but slowly you'll find them again. You'll find smaller pieces that make up the bigger ones. And soon, you'll have that jigsaw finished and you'll feel much better. I love that, and it's how I'm working through mine. I just need to find the pieces.

What advice would you give to someone who is being bullied or harassed?

I know it's bloody horrible right now, and it seems never-ending, but please speak to someone. The bullies won't win. You are so much stronger than they are. Embrace what makes you, you. Work on your own self-image and try to block out the negatives.

If you could rid the world of one thing, what would it be?

Hate. Just the idea that entire groups of people face hate for what they can't control really gets to me. I'd love there to be no hate, and no one to be judged by what they cannot control.

What else do you feel strongly about?

The environment is my other passion. I'm slowly working to be 0 waste as we need to work to reduce climate change. It's such a huge issue and it needs to be talked about more.

Let's end this with some fun 'This or That' questions:

Love or money?

Work hard or play hard?

Somewhere in the middle.

Cups in the cupboard: right side up or upside down?

Right side up, always!

Chocolate or sex?

I mean, I'm limited to dark chocolate so sex.

Plan everything or wing it?

I plan everything and still wing it.

Happiness or money?
