Bloggers Uncensored: with Buffalo Sauce Everywhere
Welcome to this weeks Bloggers Uncensored! If this is your first time reading a BU interview, this is my longest running blog series, and definitely my favourite. This series is a perfect opportunity to read your favourite bloggers' honest and uncensored opinions on real life topics, and to discover new bloggers to follow! This weeks blogger is Buffalo Sauce Everywhere.
Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Renata and I love to take and write about all different things. On my blog, you can find posts about anything from mental health to curly fries, to Disney! Reading my work and hanging out with me is never boring!
Why do you write?
I write because I love it. It's one of my favourite ways of expressing myself. Writing is a form of self-care for me. When I go a long time without writing, I just don't feel like myself. When it comes to my audience interacting with my writing, I hope that anyone reading my blog can feel not-so-alone and laugh a little!
Why did you start blogging?
My ex/bestie/blog editor/podcast cohost knew that I love writing and that I wanted to do more writing for work and life in general, so he suggested that I start a blog in order to create a digital portfolio of my work. I'm not sure what I expected at the time, but writing every week has really made me happier. I love the fact that I have my thoughts and feelings documented and I can see my own personal growth.
What do you love about the blogging world/community?
I had no idea how large the community was when I started blogging. I love that I can find a blog about anything and everything. I love that I have found a community of people as passionate about writing as I am.
In your opinion, who are the most underrated bloggers?
Bill Fonda of "A Silly Place" is so wonderful. Not only is he a relatable blogger, but he is one of the most supportive people in the community. He is one of the first blogging buddies I made, and continues to be a loyal and supportive friend.
What are some hard truths you have learnt about life?
Some people just don't care to be self-aware and to treat others with respect. You can point out to them how they might be unknowingly hurting others, and they just don't care.
What are your thoughts on mental health and how it's portrayed in today's society?
I'm very glad that we are moving more towards being accepting of mental health issues and normalizing people getting help. I, and many people I know, have been to therapy due to various mental health disorders. Obviously the system isn't perfect, but I'm glad that there are plenty of people out there happy to share their experiences and encourage people to not be ashamed to get the help they need.
What are your thoughts on feminism and how it's portrayed in today's society?
I become frustrated very easily with people who wish to deny others equality. Belonging to the feminist community on Twitter has helped me to see how awful some people can be and how far people's hatred of women can go. It is truly disheartening. Oh, and "people have it worse elsewhere" isn't an excuse to treat people poorly. Don't settle with being treated as less than.
What are your thoughts on 'Love is Love' and how it's portrayed in today's society?
I am glad that I do not understand those who take issue with people just living their lives and not hurting anyone. It's terrible that people still have to live in fear just for being who they are and loving who they love. I am glad that more people in the LGBTQIA+ community are getting represented in media, here's to hoping that this trend continues in the right direction!
What advice would you give to someone who is fighting a mental illness?
Your problems are valid. You deserve to be heard and to feel better. I hope that you can find the help that you need and that you understand how much value you truly have.
What advice would you give to someone who is being bullied or harassed?
Please speak up. Whether it is publicly shaming your abuser or quietly speaking with a trusted loved ones, don't stay silent. Find strength in your support system.
If you could rid the world of one thing, what would it be?
Acid reflux. It's the worst.
What else do you feel strongly about?
This has covered many of my thoughts on deeper issues, so here are some fun things I feel strongly about -- Disney, escape rooms, buffalo sauce, curly fries, and polyamory. If you'd like to hear me rant and argue with my ex about things I feel strongly about, please check our our podcast Overrated/Underrated!
Let's end this with some fun 'This or That' questions:
Love or money?
Love...of all kinds.
Work hard or play hard?
Play hard. Although "playing" for me is more or less binge-watching Parks and Rec.
Chocolate or sex?
Depends on my mood...but dark chocolate ONLY.
Plan everything or wing it?
Wing it. There are so many more possibilities that way! Also I hate planning.
Happiness or money?
. . .
