Bloggers Uncensored: with Mimi Prentice
Welcome to this weeks Bloggers Uncensored! If this is your first time reading a BU interview, this is my longest running blog series, and definitely my favourite. This series is a perfect opportunity to read your favourite bloggers' honest and uncensored opinions on real life topics, and to discover new bloggers to follow! This weeks blogger is Mimi Prentice.
Tell us a little about yourself.
I am a Welsh/Italian lifestyle blogger based in the UK. I am Welsh made, Italian bred.
Why do you write?
I have always written ever since I was young, but I took a long hiatus and life took over, I started the blog because I needed to get my creative juices flowing again and I felt like I had something to say.
What do you love about the blogging world/community?
I never realised that there was a blogging world out there, and was pleasantly surprised when I found out there was, they are so friendly and kind, and always willing to help you out.
What do you hate about the blogging world/community?
Nothing yet. And I hope it stays that way.
What are some hard truths you have learnt about life?
That it is hard work, physically and mentally.
What does freedom mean to you?
To express myself, I have spent far too long pleasing other people and putting myself last, and I am starting to change that now, which has given me renewed confidence and inner strength.
What are your thoughts on mental health and how it's portrayed in today's society?
Years ago, to have mental health problems was seen as embarrassing and something you shouldn't talk about, now it is more accepted and there is more help out there. And talking about it is more accepted.
What are your thoughts on feminism and how it's portrayed in today's society?
I have always been a feminist, and I come from a long line of them. Feminism in the media is seen as an attack on men, but it's not, I believe it's in the best interest for all, for everyone to be a feminist including men, because they have wives, daughters, sisters etc. What benefits females benefits males.
What advice would you give to someone who is fighting a mental illness?
You are not alone.
What advice would you give to someone who is being bullied or harassed?
Tell someone, there is strength in numbers.
If you could rid the world of one thing, what would it be?
What else do you feel strongly about?
My family, they are everything to me without them I would be lost and nothing/
Let's end this with some fun 'This or That' questions:
Love or money?
Work hard or play hard?
Cups in the cupboard: right side up or upside down?
Right side up.
Chocolate or sex?
Sex, can I have both?
Plan everything or wing it?
Bit of both.
Happiness or money?
. . .
