Bloggers Uncensored: with Sophieexoxs

Welcome to this weeks Bloggers Uncensored! This is my latest and favourite blog series that I've created. This series is an opportunity for you to hear your favourite bloggers' honest, uncensored, thoughts about real life topics. This week's blogger is Sophieexoxs.

Tell us a little about yourself.

Hi I'm Sophie and I tend to lead quite a busy life, not as exciting as it may sound though. I work full time, study for a business degree in the evening and try and blog and go to the gym as often as I can in between. I'm almost 22 and live in Buckinghamshire.

Why do you write?

I write for enjoyment and to express my thoughts and hopefully help other people out with some tips on anything that I find interesting. I find this also helps me to focus my thoughts.

Why did you start blogging?

I had just quit my job and come out of a relationship and was very lost in life. I started blogging to bring back my sense of self, and my enjoyment for reading and writing. I had always intended to be able to use my blog for both personal and professional use to showcase who I really am as a person.

What do you love about the blogging world/community?

I love how many different people you get to interact with and how many helpful posts there are. I have met some of my favourite people ever through here and most people are super supportive and encouraging!

What do you hate about the blogging world/community?

I don't like how there can be 'correct views' and if you write or post something others don't agree with it can become rather nasty. I have seen quite a lot of drama and people having to deal with a whole twitter war against them almost for posting something.

In your opinion, who are the most underrated bloggers?

Small bloggers who are just starting out and full of passion and ideas! They create some of the best posts but don't have the followers to get enough readers.

What are some hard truths you have learnt about life?

Friends will not stick around when life throws things at you and never chase after anyone who wouldn't do the same for you.

What does freedom mean to you?

Freedom to me is being able to go about my life exactly as I want, be able to get up and drive anywhere and not have to answer to anyone you don't choose to. To follow the path in life you choose and to spend time with the people you choose, not anything which is chosen for you.

What are your thoughts on mental health and how it's portrayed in today's society?

Mental health is a bit of a weird subject to me. I have suffered it pretty bad myself before it was the 'norm' almost. I do think it is over-hyped today and people expect too much of an employer in regards to this. I also am a strong believer in you need to help yourself and I think that is something which is completely missed in today's society of it. While it is a great thing, it's so mainstream now I don't think it's portrayed correctly at all or with the correct help.

What are your thoughts on feminism and how it's portrayed in today's society?

I seem to have a very different view on feminism to most people and have actually done a whole blog post on my reasons for not being a feminist. I do not agree with it, period. I do not agree with equal rights and pay to an extent because well, no one is the same. In England we do have laws which protect your human rights and equal rights however, what I see people referring to feminism as is either degrading towards men or it's more 'white privilege'. I am all for men and women have equal opportunities, IF it is deserved. I agree with men and women having equal pay, IF they complete the exact same work, have the same skills and bring the same thing to the company. I do not agree with sports people getting paid the same.Equally when the amount of men vs women in jobs are looked at I would question how many of each gender are actually qualified and want the role.

What are your thoughts on 'Love is Love' and how it's portrayed in today's society?

It's true you can't help who you love, if it is reciprocated on both sides then it's wonderful and one of the best feelings ever. I love watching romance movies and seeing relationships blossom if they are equals to each other.

What advice would you give to someone who is fighting a mental illness?

I would ask them to really think about and look at what their trigger is, I really do believe finding out your trigger is the most important part in starting to help yourself get better. You are not alone at all and it really does get better when you slowly take steps to getting away from your trigger. It's not going to happen straight away and it could never fully go away. But it does get so much better when you want it to get better.

What advice would you give to someone who is being bullied or harassed?

Find someone you trust, speak to them. What I would say is don't go straight to a teacher because unfortunately that probably won't make it better at all. If you can try and resolve it yourself I would try and do that and make yourself occupied. It's not fun at all I know. If you feel it won't get better, I would look at moving jobs/schools for a fresh start where you will feel more comfortable.

If you could rid the world of one thing, what would it be?

Drugs. I am very against them, people who do them and the effects they cause.

What else do you feel strongly about?

So I have been known to be called 'marmite' because I tend to have strong views about things. People who vote without doing their research, you may think you are doing the right thing in voting but unless you really do your research and you know what you are voting for then you should not be voting for such things as the general election or Brexit.

People who go out of their way to be spiteful and hurt people. Grow up, you look like a child and I hope karma decides to stay with you for a while.

Two seater cars, I despise these. They look stupid to me with their overly long front and bubble where the seats are. I could go on but I think y'all can understand where I'm going with this.

Let's end with some fun 'This or That' questions:

Love or money?

Work hard or play hard?

Work hard, and don't be an idiot when you do go out and 'play'.

Cups in the cupboard: right side up or upside down?

Right side up, I don't want to wash my glass before I have a drink.

Chocolate or sex?

Plan everything or wing it?

My life motto is wing it.

Happiness or money?
